Hone your grill skills

Win a trip to Napa and learn to grill like a pro

Here’s a sweet deal: For one weekend in August you can go to Napa, for free, to improve your grilling skills at the beautiful COPIA Cooking School.

August in Napa might be as good as springtime in Paris. Usually not too hot or humid, with cool nights and dry weather, it’s a great place to spend a weekend in the summer. And with the grill class as part of the equation, it adds up to a memorable weekend getaway.

Master the grill.

We at Culinate — along with Chronicle Books, COPIA Cooking School, Southwest Airlines, and Powell's Books — present the GrillMe Contest, which gives two lucky people a weekend in Napa, attending a class on grilling taught by grillmasters Andrew Schloss and David Joachim, authors of the new book Mastering the Grill. And each winner — one a general reader and the other a food blogger who’s been selected by readers — can bring a friend along.

You read that right: One general reader (and a companion) go to Napa; one food blogger (and a companion) go to Napa. The general-reader winner and the winning food blogger both take the grill class; the companions are on their own. Tuition for the grill class, lodging, and airfare are covered.

If you’re looking to hone your grill skills, this might be the opportunity you’re waiting for. Register here. And while you’re at it, vote for a food blogger of your choice to join the fun. (If you’re a food blogger, it’s OK to vote for yourself!)

A summer weekend grilling in Napa. Nice.
