Billed as the largest celebration of American food in history, Slow Food Nation will take place in San Francisco over four days — Labor Day Weekend — and I, for one, am jazzed.
Should you make your way to the Bay Area during that time, as I plan to do, you’ll find plenty to see and taste. At one event, food luminaries Wendell Berry, Michael Pollan, Alice Waters, Eric Schlosser, and Signor Slow Food himself, Carlo Petrini, will share the stage in conversation about the impact — local and global — of Slow Food; that event alone could be worth the trip.
But there will also be a music festival, workshops, films, dinners — and did I mention food?
On the ground there will be an urban garden, surrounded by a farmers’ and producers’ marketplace; vendors bringing tastes of food from around the nation; and cooking demonstrations. Some of the events are free; others are ticketed.
For more information and tickets, visit the Slow Food Nation website, and watch Culinate for exciting opportunities to participate in SFN in the weeks ahead!
