The local bandwagon

Signs of the mainstream times

It had to happen: The Complete Idiot’s series of how-to guidebooks has gone local. With the new The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Local, the locavore eating trend is officially mainstream in America.

The book’s emphasis on basics may strike some as obvious, but others (i.e., the target audience of newbies) as very helpful. Not sure whether citrus is a locally grown food in your neck of the U.S. woods? Unclear on the difference between organic and local? Fuzzy on which foods come into season when? The guide explains all this, plus how-tos on helping your local schools, shops, and eateries offer local grub.
