The October issue of Consumer Reports has, as usual, an odd mix of grocery-shopping advice, ranging from the well-seasoned (updates on USDA regulations on chicken contamination and a useful lexicon of milk terminology) to the half-baked (“taste” comparisons between name brands and store brands of junk food, including processed cheese slices and sugary kids’ cereal).
Most useful tip? Pointing out the milk-sourcing website Where Is My Milk From?, where you can track the origins of any carton of milk.
There’s little correlation between the print magazine and the company’s website, however, so if you’re interested, you’ll have to order the old-fashioned paper version.
