Sometimes — despite the menus touting each dish’s local origin — it’s easy to forget that the pretty produce on your restaurant plate came from a field on a farm somewhere. The nonprofit American Farmland Trust wants to remind you of this basic fact next week with its inaugural Dine Out for Farms week (October 10-16). Eat at a participating restaurant, and money goes to the AFT’s programs supporting the country’s family farmers.
