Check out the Eat Well Guided Tour of America

By Ashley Griffin
August 20, 2007

Maybe you’ve heard of Sustainable Table because you’ve seen their funny, thought-provoking online video called “The Meatrix.” Maybe you’ve come across their handy online guide to sustainable eating, called the Eat Well Guide. Heck, maybe you know who they are because you read Kim Carlson’s article here on Culinate called “Sustainable food, defined.”

Well, this month Sustainable Table is taking sustainable-food education to the highways and byways of our fair land on the Eat Well Guided Tour of America. The tour is a celebration of local and sustainable food as well as the communities and individuals who produce, distribute, promote, and eat it.

The tour kicked off in Hollywood on August 2 as the group boarded their neon-green, biofueled bus. Along the way, they’ll stop in more than 25 towns to visit restaurants, family farms, and farmers’ markets in California, Oregon, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and New York, among other places. They’ll reach their final destination just in time for the Farm Aid Concert at Randall’s Island in New York City on September 9.

Can’t catch ‘em in person? Travel along with the team by way of their frequently updated blog, photo page, and video clips featuring interviews with folks involved in the sustainable-food movement.
