Time magazine has published its top-10 list of food trends for 2008. If 2007 was The Year of the Locavore, 2008, apparently, was the year of “recession dining” (i.e., eating in and cheaply). What else? Calorie-posting laws, salmonella, tap water, fancy coffee makers, caffeinated foods, goat meat, the Grant Achatz cancer saga, Mexican-Italian fusion food, and, yes, an anti-locavore backlash.
