A week ago, nutrition expert Marion Nestle wrote on her blog about a new Federal Trade Commission finding that U.S. companies spend about $1.6 billion on marketing to children. Nestle believes this stunning figure is actually too low.
This week, kids and food are in the news (and on Nestle’s blog) once again. The Center for Science in the Public Interest has released a study that says 93 percent of all kiddie meals at fast-food restaurants contain more than 430 calories. That’s about a third of what children should eat in a day, according to the Institute of Medicine.
