Is your tap water free of lead? And your house paint stripped of the toxic metal? Water and paint are generally considered the two main sources of lead poisoning in the home. But now comes a report from California’s Environmental Law Foundation, which spent the past year having common kids’ drinks and packaged fruits tested by an independent lab for lead.
The results, according to NPR: “Many individual servings of apple juice, grape juice, packaged peaches and pears and fruit cocktail — all lunchbox staples — contained lead above the daily limit for young kids.” See which products — including items from Trader Joe’s, Santa Cruz Organics, and Gerber — failed the lead test by downloading ELF’s list of violations.
