Mom’s day treats

Cook brunch, or just lavish your mom with gifts

By Liz Crain
May 8, 2008

Food bloggers seem to like nothing more than a holiday, since it offers an acceptable reason to go all out in the kitchen. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11, which means plenty of blog buzz about recipe sharing and mom celebrations.

The editors at Epicurious just posted 10 Mother's Day recipes that, they write, simply remind them of their moms. These aren’t your usual brunch fare; they range from Asian Turkey-Noodle Soup with Ginger and Chiles and Soft-Shelled Crabs Meunière to Lemon Crème Brûlée with Fresh Berries and a boozy-sounding Cosmopolitan Sorbet.

If you’ve already got a menu (or reservation) lined up, check out Slashfood’s recent Mother's Day gift list focused on food-loving vegetarians. Prezzies range from kitchen equipment to cookbooks to food to fruit-shaped bling.

In other words, whatever floats your mom’s boat.
