Ann Cooper, the “Renegade Lunch Lady” responsible for trying to turn around the public-school lunch program in Berkeley, California, recently penned an op-ed for Grist about why she's not wild about Janey Thornton, the new federal school-lunch czar. Cooper’s own program is also in the news lately, because the grant funds supporting it will expire soon unless the program can break even.
