Every other autumn, Slow Food International throws a global party called Terra Madre. Farmers and food activists from around the world travel to Italy to discuss what they’re doing to preserve food diversity, promote sustainable agriculture, encourage better nutrition, and the like.
This year isn’t a Terra Madre year. Instead, the nonprofit organization is turning December 10 into Terra Madre Day, with events taking place worldwide celebrating sustainable food.
Here’s the kicker: The organizers plan to hold an event every minute — 1,440 events in all. What can you do? The website has some ideas, including celebratory dinners, farm excursions, and film screenings. Start planning now.
