About Émile Zola

Naturalist French novelist and activist Émile Zola (1840-1902) is best known for his novels Thérèse Raquin, Nana, and Germinal, all of which criticized contemporary French society for the pressures it put on its members. He is also famous for his advocacy work in the Dreyfus affair.
