Douglas, along with his wife and business partner, Jackie Cross, owns five Seattle restaurants. A Delaware native who started out cooking crab cakes at the Hotel Dupont in Wilmington, Douglas headed west in 1978 and ended up in Seattle, which became his adopted home. He has appeared on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef” and hosts his own weekly radio talk show. His books include Tom Douglas’ Seattle Kitchen, Tom’s Big Dinners, and I Love Crab Cakes. He and his wife live in Seattle with their daughter, Loretta.
