Play Dough Bread

From the book The Cooking Book by Jane Bull

Ingredients

Dough

1 packet rapid-rising yeast
lb. unbleached flour
cups warm water
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. oil (canola, olive, etc.)

Decoration

1 beaten egg
~ Sunflower seeds
~ Poppy seeds
~ Raisins

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mix all the dough ingredients together. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it for 10 minutes; add flour or water if necessary.
  2. Cut the dough into segments and make shapes out of it. Place the shapes on a greased baking sheet and cover the sheet with plastic wrap; let the dough rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
  3. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush the shapes with the beaten egg and decorate with the seeds and raisins, if desired. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes; serve warm.
