Ingredients
Dough
| 1 | packet rapid-rising yeast |
| 1½ | lb. unbleached flour |
| 1½ | cups warm water |
| 1 | tsp. salt |
| 2 | tsp. oil (canola, olive, etc.) |
Decoration
| 1 | beaten egg |
| ~ | Sunflower seeds |
| ~ | Poppy seeds |
| ~ | Raisins |
Steps
- In a large bowl, mix all the dough ingredients together. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead it for 10 minutes; add flour or water if necessary.
- Cut the dough into segments and make shapes out of it. Place the shapes on a greased baking sheet and cover the sheet with plastic wrap; let the dough rise for 30 minutes until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush the shapes with the beaten egg and decorate with the seeds and raisins, if desired. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes; serve warm.
