Chilled Grapefruit Vodka

From the book The Basic Gourmet Entertains by Diane Morgan, Dan Taggart, and Kathleen Taggart
Serves 30

Introduction

Serve straight from the freezer in small vodka glasses or pour over ice in old-fashioned glasses.

Ingredients

2 medium pink or white grapefruits (about 1 pound each)
l (1 large bottle) vodka

Steps

  1. Using a citrus stripper or zester, or a vegetable peeler, remove zest (not white pith underneath) from grapefruits. In a 2-quart bottle or bowl, combine zest and vodka. Allow to stand, covered, for 4 to 7 days. Strain into vodka bottle. Store in freezer until serving.
