Fresh Fruit Spritzer

From the book The Basic Gourmet Entertains by Diane Morgan, Dan Taggart, and Kathleen Taggart
Serves 1

Introduction

A combination of fresh fruit juice and a little sparkling water (seltzer) makes a very refreshing drink and allows a nonimbibing guest the opportunity to “work the crowd” with glass in hand, but without subverting his or her desire to avoid alcohol. Serve in a 12-ounce tumbler or highball glass.

Ingredients

~ Ice cubes or cracked ice
½ cup squeezed or puréed juice of fresh fruit, such as oranges, grapefruits, apples, various melons, strawberries, papayas, or mangos
½ cup sparkling water
~ Thin slices of same fruit, for garnish

Steps

  1. Place ice in serving glass. Add juice and sparkling water and stir lightly to blend. Garnish with fruit slices.
