La Grande, Oregon (April 14, 2010) - The schedule has been announced for the “Kneads Bakery Presents Music at the Market” concert series to be presented throughout the La Grande Farmers’ Market 2010 season. Leah Starr, owner of Kneads Bakery, coordinates the music series by bringing together local bands and community sponsors. “We look forward to another great season of music and food in downtown La Grande,” Star said. “The local musicians add a local flavor to this regular community event.”

Music is performed at the La Grande Farmers’ Market every Saturday throughout the season from 9:00 am to noon. The 2010 season kicks off on Saturday, May 22 and runs through Saturday, October 23. The performances take place at Max Square in downtown La Grande at the corner of 4th and Adams. Bands set up on a covered stage which is located facing the tiered benches built into the square. Music can be enjoyed while shopping, eating breakfast or lunch, or seated with family and friends. “Music at the Market” happens on Saturdays only. There is no music currently scheduled for Tuesday markets. Tuesday markets feature produce and other items.

The bands currently scheduled to be featured this year at the regular Saturday La Grande Farmers’ Market include: TooBamBoo, Star Nation, Summit Ridge, Janis Carper & Carolyn Lochert, Blue Plate Specials, Porter and the Pale Ales, Kupenga Marimba, Thacher Carter & Friends, Larry Robb Band, and Matt Cooper’s Xtet. These bands perform in a variety of styles: acid jazz, African rhythms, bluegrass, blues, finger-style folk, honky-tonk, jazz, Native American folk, rockabilly, standard folk, and popular standards. There are a few dates that have not been booked at the time of this writing, and some of the bands may reschedule during the season.
