Cherries

Michigan is one of the country’s biggest cherry producers, so while Friske Orchards sells a wide range of fruits and fruit products, Montmorency cherries — frozen, canned, dried, etc. — are the house specialty.

Cured meats

The family-owned Kowalski Meats & Sausages has been making hams, sausages, and the like for nearly a century. Try their holiday kielbasa.

Excellent farmer’s markets in Royal Oak, Traverse City and Eastern Market downtown Detroit provide a variety of fruits, vegetables, cheeses, and meats depending on the season.

Food for Thought is a great local company providing pantry staples. Their maple cream is awesome!

Detroit Street Brick is an excellent Michigan made goat’s cheese.

Zingerman's is an Ann Arbor Deli. They have an excellent bakery and their cheese selection is the best in the state.

Black Star Farms is an award-winning winery and creamery.

Alexander & Hornung is another excellent local cured meat producer.
