Virginia

Peanuts

Virginia peanuts are notable for the homestyle methods by which they’re roasted. Family-owned Virginia Specialties sells extra-large peanuts that are roasted in small batches, along with lots of other nutty treats (butter toffee peanuts, anyone?) and Virginia hams, too.

Virginia has hot summers that allow it to grow things like watermelons, sweet poatoes & peaches, but cool enough winters to grow cherries. We grow a wide variety of excellent fruit and vegetable and we have wonderful poultry, meat and seafood. Particularly known are blue crabs, soft shell crabs, Virginia ham aka country Ham (Calhoun’s in Culpeper make some great ones!) and very nice wines.
