With only a few days to go until Turkey Day, we’ve all been doing a lot more baking. Even when we struggle with it, as Melissa Lion noted earlier this year in her piece “The sourdough apprentice,” we still find the alchemy of ingredients and heat a wondrous thing.

In celebration of winter’s emphasis on baking, we’re giving away copies of the book featured in Melissa’s story, The Bread Baker’s Apprentice, to three lucky readers. To win a copy, all you have to do is leave a comment on any one of the three recipes featured in Melissa’s essay:
