Lemon Sticks

Introduction

This classic treat from Baltimore’s Flowermart festival is nothing more than a fresh lemon paired with a peppermint stick.

Ingredients

1 lemon, cut in half along the equator (or 2 smaller lemons with the top ends cut off)
2 soft cane-sugar peppermint sticks (often labeled “old-fashioned peppermint sticks” — see Note)

Steps

  1. Place one peppermint stick in the middle of one lemon half. Repeat.
  2. Suck the lemon juice through the peppermint stick (as you would a straw) while squeezing the lemon gently.
