Meera S.T. Vargo
I began preparing food as a child, learning to cook dishes from around the globe under my mother’s direction, but I came into my own as a cook and baker as a teenager. In college I was given a job cooking at a restaurant affiliated with the campus alumnae club, where I was in charge of breakfast pastries and the dessert tray. While in graduate school I worked as a cook at a Montessori preschool, introducing tofu and basalmic vinaigrette to toddlers and their teachers. Today, I’m a school psychologist working in the Seattle area. However, I still regard cooking as my greatest passion. My recipe collection here includes familiar dishes with a twist and a few unusual dishes to try.
