In the height of winter, when there’s a lot of citrus to choose from, I like playing around with different combinations: Meyer lemons, clementines, blood oranges. For the right balance of tart and sweet, keep the proportions at roughly 2 parts orange/tangerine juice to 1 part lemon/lime juice.
| ¼ | cup freshly squeezed lemon and/or lime juice | |
| ½ | cup freshly squeezed orange and/or tangerine juice | |
| 1 | tsp. honey | |
| 1 | shot bourbon, Scotch, or brandy | |
| ~ | Hot water |
Given all the fresh juice in this drink, it doesn’t stay hot for very long. If you prefer a hotter drink, first warm the juices briefly in the microwave.
