Introduction

This pairing is so simple it really doesn’t require a recipe; what matters most is buying a high-quality cheese and fresh dates. The sweet-and-salty combination is sublime.

Ingredients

lb. whole dates, preferably Medjool
½ lb. aged Manchego cheese, cut into thin slices

Steps

  1. Split the dates in half, either by pulling them apart with your fingers or cutting them with a knife; remove and discard the pits.
  2. Arrange the dates and cheese on a plate. To serve, place a date half on top of a piece of cheese and eat.
