About Billy Cross

I own a guesthouse on Gran Via, the main street of Barcelona. It is called Casa de Billy Barcelona. For 22 years I was the business partner and boyfriend of Michael James, the Chef and Cookbook writer. We founded and owned The Great Chefs of France Cooking School at the Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley of California. Michael died of AIDs on July 25, 1993.
I also live in Cuernavaca, Morelos, in the mountains of Central Mexico about 2 hours southwest of Mexico City and on the beach on the Pacific Coast of Mexico 1 hour north of Acapulco on a small island called Barra de Coyuca in the state of Guerrero.
I live with the Mexican Painter Joaquin Zagal Dominguez who is a very good cook. We spend the Spring and summer in Barcelona and the winter in Mexico. Cooking almost everyday and like everyone else trying to enjoy life and our friends.

Hi Billy...Nice to hear from you. I have fond memories of Michael and I’m sure you miss him very much. You’re right about Richard Olney...He was a mean old man!! I can’t tell you how touched I was to have some news about Jerome. That was an awful situation and to hear that he’s “alive and kicking” makes me very happy. I’ve thought of him so often over the years ---- thanks so much for the up-date. I’d be surprised if he holds me in high esteem but if you have a chance to tell him we were in touch with one another, please let him know that he holds a special place in my heart and that I hang my head in shame when I think about what happened........I live in Manhattan now and if you’re ever here, please get in touch. Hope all goes well and thanks for reaching out....Charles
