Sweet Thoughts

I am starting to think that I love taking pictures of my creations almost as much as I love creating them.

Sunday Dinner

Tonight I baked chicken marinated in lemon, mustard, and a little bit of olive oil on a bed of potatoes, sweet and red, onions, and green peppers. Dotted with dried sage and a bit of thyme. Some day this week I go back to baking sweets.

Preserves

Any advice on how to get started with making your own preserves and/or jams? I have let too many berries go to waste too often this season. And I can’t seem to stop purchasing them.

Pasta Roller/Machine

I am in the market for one that will not attach to my kitchen aid. I want the hand crank, counter top clamp kind of roller. Any recommendations?

Strawberry Hazelnut Bars

They are currently cooling on my table. Adapted from the cherry almond bar recipe from the Rustic Fruit Desserts cookbook. Pics to come.

Asparagus for Breakfast

And some leftover tossed in pasta for tomorrow’s dinner. The first bunch of the stalks I purchased this season. A better breakfast could not be had.

Strawberry and Rhubarbs

Picked up another pint of strawberries from the Farmer’s Market. Immediately cut them and some rhubarb and raspberries for a crisp for dessert.

Semolina Bread

A loaf of it in my bag. I cannot wait to get it home. I won’t break into it tonight. But definitely tomorrow.

Strawberries

Picked up my first pint of strawberries of the season. Surprised they are still sitting on my counter. What to do with them? Hmmmmm.

Writing Away ...

I can’t be in my kitchen so I’m writing about it on my blog. Four postings today. Phew! Tired. And dreaming about a cake I want to experiment with. Is it closing time yet?

Mother’s Day

I’m working that evening so it’s an early brunch at a local cafe with my mother. Perhaps a delayed lunch party with my aunts.

Farmer’s Market Here I Come ....

Heading to the Farmer’s Market on the way to work to grab pretty much whatever I see that catches my fancy. I wonder about the benefits of hitting the Market vs. joining a CSA (I received an email this morning reminding me there were still spots available in one particular CSA I have been looking into). What do you think? To CSA or to Farmer’s Market? That is my question!
