I am having a small dinner party for a friends birthday on Sunday and he loves chocolate .I want
to make a classic layer cake. The type your mother would make . Not a flourless , not a molten , not
anything but one that looks like the type you see on the box at you grocery store ,but better. Does anyone
have a good recipe ?

Joseph: I love Carrie's Chocolate Cake on Culinate (I’m sorry it doesn’t come up easily in our search; that has nothing to do with the cake, which is excellent.) In fact, I had this cake, with chocolate ganache, for my birthday this year, which made getting a year older just a little easier.

There’s also a great recipe that you can find from Ina Garten on the Food Network’s website. I also have another simple one in my recipe collection. I’ll be happy to post it online for you later.
