Hands down, the very first cook book I received when I was fresh out of college and starting life away from home. Some friends gave me a little gift box as a going a way gift: a coffee mug, some dish towels, coffee and the cook book, Meals for One or Two from Better Homes and Gardens. It was 1979 and it started me cooking and starting me amassing cook books. I know I cooked at least everything in the book once. Not as ambitious as Julie Powell, but back then I was satisfied.
