It’s a tie. Both were given to me by my mom. The first was Deborah Madison’s The Greens Cook Book after we had a vacation in San Francisco when I was in high school. One day we literally made a “trek” to Green’s on foot from Union Square to Fort Mason. It was both an unforgettable walk and an amazing meal at the end! The other is, The French Chef by Julia Child. My mom took me to see Julia when she was giving a talk in Seattle in the 90’s. That day as we shopped Capital Hill, she bought a used copy of The French Chef, saying she had lost hers. After the talk, we lined up to get the book signed and when we met Julia (she was amazing!), my mom had her sign it to me.
