About Claudia Roden

Roden was born and raised in Cairo. Her writing focuses on the cooking traditions of the Middle East and the Jews; she is an expert in Jewish food history, with a particular focus on Sephardic cooking. Her books include the James Beard Award–winning The Book of Jewish Food and the seminal A Book of Middle Eastern Food (updated as The New Book of Middle Eastern Food); her latest book is Arabesque. She lives in London.
