The Restaurant Widow has certainly been a fun blog to follow! I appreciate Lisa’s interest in buying local and living purposefully in a community to make it better. The more everyone takes this approach, the better our urban environments will be.

Farm to table by jennbecluv on Jun 19, 2007 at 8:25 AM PDT
Why not do one better than a CSA and look around for a local farm to volunteer on and get your hands dirty? It’s amazing how fulfilling it is to watch a tomato plant you put in the ground grow up and produce the best fruit you’ve ever tasted. Living in a city is no excuse not to get involved in the growing process. Many cities around the country are seeing a growth spurt in urban farming initatives. Check it out!

The photos on an existing food blog actually prompted me to create my own blog as a tool to market the urban farm where I volunteer. It’s been a great success and I’ve nearly tossed traditional cookbooks out thanks to food blogs. It’s the pictures that make all the difference - they say you eat first with your eyes and they’re right!
