    My husband built a “tomato condo” last weekend, a raised bed that steps up (it will sit on the south side of our house). But we haven’t done a lot to get seeds in the ground. I know others have though!

    I have planted some peas, carrots and beets (seeds). I personally wait until May to plant my tomatoes and other starts to avoid the chance of hail damage (which in Portland happened quite forcefully in my neighborhood yesterday).

    Kim - it’s too late to start tomatoes from seeds. You can buy starts from Portland Nursery or Al’s, and plant them out in mid-May or so.

    Thanks, Caroline — I bought some tomato starts at the farmers market last week, so we’ll put those in. I need to get lettuce in the ground now! What about peas? Too late?
