Spice Quick Bread

From the recipe box Bread by

Introduction

This quick bread is super easy to make and delicious! It’s great warmed up with a little butter at breakfast. I like a stronger spice flavor, so I am generous when I measure out my spices.

Ingredients

¼ cup butter, softened
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
½ tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. ground cinnamon
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
¼ tsp. ground allspice
¼ tsp. salt
cup milk
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350*.Prepare an 8x4 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring; set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flours, baking powder, spices and salt. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in the walnuts.
  2. Transfer to prepared loaf pan. Bake at for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.
