FINALLY finished! A Bolognese “Torta di Riso”... and the whole apartment smells GREAT.
Pureed 1 can of Goya Black Beans with 1 can of Sweet Potato Puree. Added diced onion, 3 sage leaves, chopped rosemary, 3 shaves of fresh ginger, 2 cloves of garlic, cinnamon, corriander, and ancho chili. Super Yum. And I love my new stick blender!!
Tried to make a cheese sauce that was better for you than a milk/flour base: Warmed fat free greek yogurt and a splash of skim milk in a pot with 6 oz. of grated Wisconsin cheddar. Not bad and protein packed!
“salad” of roasted red peppers, roasted carrots, thyme, herbed Chevre, and chickpeas with balsamic and oil.
Haven’t found any in the city, but I’m in the burbs and these little gems are an addiction!! Made a salad with pluots, arugula, goat cheese, almonds, lemon, pepper, and oil. Mmm! I agree with Chip’s article. They ARE the perfect fruit!
Just had the most PERFECT tomato in my salad for lunch. I forget how blah the tomatoes are in the off-season until I have ones from SUMMER!! MMMMM!!
It is truly a joy cooking for friends...I honestly never care what is on the menu. I’m making Roasted Red Pepper Soup with Apple Cheddar Rolls tonight at my friend’s apt. and it just puts a smile on my face. Pure joy! Friends, food, a glass of wine, and some good times. Is it 7 yet?
I sent an “Edible Arrangement” bouquet to my grandma for all the moms in my family to share. (They all live 5 mins. from each other.) So my mom, my aunt, and my grandma can all sit, eat the “bouquet”, and spend time together.
It might seem boring, but I was starving, craving cheese, and wanted something quick after work. Cheese was on sale today and not just ANY cheese, but cubes of Gouda! Sha-ZAM! I bought a head of broccoli and had a big, steaming bowl of good old-fashioned broccoli and cheese. Craving satisfied, and I got some greens in!
Oooo! And Kim take a photo of the final product so we call all see your efforts!!! Those cookies sound FAB!
I recently purchased a cast iron skillet and seriously have no idea what I can cook in it. I made a spanish tortilla and all the egg stuck to the bottom. Ideas anyone?
There’s ACTUALLY a Grilled Cheese Competition apparently held in California. I e-mailed the organizers to try to get one here in NY so I can compete ... it would be so much fun! http://www.grilledcheeseinvitational.com/
Made penne con funghi and a simple green salad. Ooops. I had no desert. The solution? Saw something deliciously unusual in the wine market: a bottle of FRESITA, Sparkling Chilean wine with real strawberries. Best impulse purchase ever. My friend and I talked forever enjoying a two hour dinner!
Hey all. Anyone have any easy vegetarian suggestions on what to make with frozen peas? I’m thinking (so far) of putting them in a food processor to make “pancakes” or “fritters” with left over roasted garlic an egg and some feta. Or instead of feta throw in some garam masala. I am stuck on those two ideas and wanted other opinions. Help!
