I enjoy most every kind of food. I have read extensively about tea and herbs so they are 2 of my passions. I love to search out Farmers Markets wherever we travel and enjoy talking with the vendors. My newest interest is bread and will be taking classes in the next 2 weeks to learn how to bake artisan breads, and then flat breads.

This beautiful piece of writing made me cry. How wonderful your Nani must of been and what great memories she gave everyone. I hope I can do at least a bit of the same for my family. Thank you. I look forward to the book in 2012.

My Dad grew up in Yonkers New York and I had the privelage of going there when I was 7 years old. I am now 61. If I could get a copy of a book that had recipes close to the food my Dad ate when he was a kid, I would just love it. I have a new grand daughter coming soon and it would be fun someday to fix meals for her from her great grandfathers area of growing up.

How do you store the dried beans? I just purchased 3 lbs. of beans from Rancho Gordo and am excited to cook them but there are only 2 of us and I need to space out the times we eat these. Should I put them in quart jars with lids until ready to use? Leave in the cupboard?
Also, if you use a slow cooker, can you give me an approx time to cook the beans before needing to check for doneness?
Thank you!
